Haven't updated in a while...
- Because I've been busy with the day job (for most of the time) or sick as a dog (just this week). Ugh, lesson learned: being sick in New York...sucks.
However there is a bit to share.
- I'm about 75 pages into the 1st draft of FAMILY FIRST (horror script). It's coming in long now. Which is a bit odd because the first full-length script I wrote ended up coming in on the short side (around 80 pages or so). I worry that the latter half of this draft might suffer because I'm worrying that it's running too long.
But I really shouldn't. I'd rather just get everything down and then cut as needed for the 2nd draft. I suppose it's much easier to have too much and take away than it is to have too little and try to add stuff.
- I need to watch some more movies. My Netflix queue has been running slower than molasses because I keep forgetting to drop my movies in the mail. And I don't make it out to the overpriced theaters nearly as much as I'd like. Tops on my list of films to see: Behind the Mask, 300, Zodiac, and oh yeah, Grindhouse! I feel slightly hypocritical wanting to be a screenwriter and all and then not making the time to go see movies (especially movies that seem like the types of films that I'd like to write!).
- Of course there's always TV. Looks like I can forget about the Veronica Mars spec as it seems fairly close to cancellation. Hmmm maybe I'll go back to my idea for a Dexter spec. Now if only I knew someone with a copy of one of those scripts...
- I'm also thinking about taking a horror screenwriting course here in NY taught by the guy who wrote Cabin Fever. No, not Eli Roth. The other guy. Gotta see if schedule will permit though.
- Did I mention that it succcccccccccccccccks being sick.
- Because it does.
