Blogging inconsistently

But, hey, at least I'm trying.

My screenwriting class has gone really well. I'd say that my only real disappointment has been missing 2 out of the 6 classes. However when I have gone to class AND shared my writing/ideas/whatever, I've been really pleased with the results. Everyone really seems to dig my idea(s) for BET ON BLOOD (both in terms of concept and initial ideas for execution). The suggestions and criticisms I received about my outline (or at least up to the beginning of the 3rd Act were thought-provoking and actually very helpful.

The teacher (Randy) was very complimentary and it was just the sort of encouragement one enjoys hearing. For next week, I have to write the first few pages AND come up with a 2-3 minute pitch for the entire movie. It's an exciting and daunting task to be certain! I've done a bit of writing these past few days, but I'll have to kick it in high gear this upcoming week. Hopefully my string of homeruns will continue, but I'll settle for a solid double (or some other sports metaphor that I don't quite understand).

I'm also interested in seeing what (if any) career advice my teacher might have. I figure it's worth a shot at least. Always be looking for connections and ways inside. That's my motto (that I just made up).

Project update:

* BET ON BLOOD: Outline's more or less complete. Writing the first few pages for class.

* FAMILY FEARS (formerly FAMILY FIRST): I need to get moving on the rewrite of this one. I do think I'll be going at this one with very fresh eyes.

* I have an idea for a short story that's been bouncing around every now and then in the ol' headspace. If I have a moment, I might try taking a rough stab at it.
